The University of California Regents, the nemesis of campus radicals during the 1960s, had apparently energized students again by deciding to end affirmative action at the campuses. The sign on the left urges students to "shut down the regents" and gives the date of the next meeting. The sign on the right says, "Build a mass, integrated independent movement to defend affirmative action by any means necessary."
